Several conditions that promote flowering of potted cactus

People often have such doubts, how to maintain potted cacti so that they can bloom more easily? In fact, many people make mistakes in the first step. Some cacti hardly bloom after being grown as potted plants. If you want to make cactus bloom, you must first choose the right variety. Let’s discuss some conditions that promote flowering of potted cacti.

1. Choose flowering varieties

Here I will first introduce some cactus varieties that are easier to bloom, including the common crab claw orchid, bright red cactus finger, arrow lotus, descendant ball, scarlet flower jade, white sandalwood cactus, Luanfeng jade, dragon king ball, and jade weng. Varieties that bloom easily. Let me explain here, here are rainforest type cactus and desert type cactus. For example, the common crab claw orchid, bright red fairy and arrow lotus are rainforest-type cacti. They are more afraid of water and excessive exposure to the sun, and like higher air humidity. When we care for common cacti and desert-type cacti, we need to give them more light. What I want to share below is also how to promote flowering of desert-type cactus, as well as some tips on daily maintenance.

To ensure that a cactus blooms, the environment for normal maintenance must have sufficient light. There must be at least 6 to 8 hours of direct light every day. These are the basic conditions for cactus to bloom.

2. Dormant period in winter

Another very important flowering condition is that winter requires a proper dormancy period. Don’t think that cactus likes a warm and humid environment all year round. In winter, if the cactus has an appropriate low temperature of about 8 to 18 degrees, especially at night, the daytime temperature can be slightly higher than the night temperature by about 5 degrees, thus forming an appropriate temperature difference. Of course, the temperature difference should not exceed 15 degrees.

3. Dark environment at night

At night, there must be a proper dark environment, and there should not be light all day long. For example, there should be long-term light exposure at night. This will affect the resting of the cactus, and are also some tips to promote cactus flowering.

4. Fertilize during the growing period

During the growing season, such as spring and summer, you can add some phosphorus and potassium fertilizer, or other organic liquid fertilizer, to the cactus every two or three weeks. The concentration of fertilizer should be half less than usual, and the concentration should be 1/2 to 1/4 of the usual. Do not fertilize too frequently or give too thick a fertilizer.

5. Control watering

In autumn and winter, when the temperature drops below 18 degrees, watering should be slightly reduced. Excessive watering at this time will not be absorbed by the cactus, and in severe cases, it will cause root rot.

If these conditions are met, cactus maintained indoors are relatively easy to bloom. Of course, when maintaining potted cactus, you must also ensure a well-ventilated environment. The air humidity should not be higher than 50%. They prefer a dry environment. If the air is relatively Humidity will also affect cactus flowering.
